Coaching with me
If you’ve just landed on my Coaching page, hello. I’m Garthine Walker, an EMCC-accredited coach and UKCP-registered psychotherapist based in Cardiff, working with coaching clients online across the UK and internationally.
I am an EMCC Global Senior Practitioner in Coaching, holding an Advanced Postgraduate (Level 7) coaching qualification. In addition, I have decades of experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues and students during a long career in universities.
My advanced psychotherapy qualifications and experience mean that coaching with me has the added value of working safely and ethically at psychological depth when that is helpful.
I also have lived experience of neurodivergence and operate a neurodivergent-affirming practice.
Who I work with
I provide coaching for people who are navigating life transitions, neurodivergence, and questions of identity and purpose. We work together to identify and overcome the internal blocks that prevent them from realising their potential and living authentically.
Many clients come to me following a diagnosis of ADHD, autism or AuDHD, or because they are beginning to explore the possibility that they may be neurodivergent. Coaching can provide a space to make sense of this new understanding, navigate questions of identity and self-acceptance, and develop ways of living and working that are aligned with who you are.
I love to work with those in the creative industries, in academia (staff and students), with entrepreneurs (including solopreneurs), as well as with therapists and coaches who are developing their private practices.
I have experience of providing Business Strategy Coaching and Coping Skills to clients in receipt of Access to Work grants.
However, I do not offer the kind of ‘ADHD Coaching’ that focuses solely on productivity, time management, and executive function. Rather, my approach combines reflection with action. Alongside gaining greater insight into yourself and your patterns, we develop practical strategies that support meaningful and sustainable change.
Whether you have already worked through past traumas in psychotherapy or are not drawn to undertaking depth psychotherapy right now, coaching may be just what you need to support you to increase clarity, self-awareness and achieve change and growth.
Practical matters
Coaching takes place online via Zoom and costs £120 per 45-minute session. Longer or shorter sessions charged pro rata are also possible: 30 mins (£80), 60 mins (£160), 75 mins (£200) may also possible where they better meet your needs. I also run coaching ‘intensives’ where we might spend a longer block of time, such as a morning or afternoon together or series of such blocks, to address particular issues in greater depth. Please ask me more about this if you’re interested.
We will decide on the duration and frequency of coaching calls according to what’s going to work best for you and our respective availability. This might be weekly or fortnightly sessions for a limited number of calls, an intensive coaching package, or ad hoc meetings of varying lengths.
In addition, I offer ‘body doubling’ (working alongside someone to support focus and task completion) as an add-on for anyone who has regular coaching sessions with me. Body doubling is charged at my hourly rate but may be taken as three 20-minute or two 30-minute blocks.
We can discuss all this and plan an initial schedule in our exploratory call and initial coaching session. We can also explore whether my coaching-focused psychotherapy (payable at my psychotherapy rather than my coaching rate) would suit you better: regular weekly sessions where we attend to the deeper psychological processes while also integrating the development of practical skills to replace masking with new ways of doing and being.
