Hello and welcome!
Whether you’ve found your way here via a directory listing, a personal or professional referral, or through serendipity, welcome!
There are myriad reasons why you might be considering therapy right now (see my ‘Psychotherapy’ page). Are you holding it together on the outside but inside feel like you’re hanging on by your fingertips? The cost can be dear: unsatisfying relationships with others, never feeling that we’re realising our potential in our career or creativity, and fearing that the worst things we say to ourselves are true. Perhaps you have realised that you no longer want to go like this.
I’m Garthine Walker, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and EMCC-accredited coach based in Cardiff. I work with clients throughout the UK and internationally, primarily online.
My therapy practice specialises in developmental and attachment trauma, overwhelm and burnout, and neurodivergence – including ADHD, AuDHD, Autism, and high sensitivity. I work too with immersive or ‘maladaptive’ daydreaming, a little-known but significant area I have particular experience in. I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a well-evidenced approach for processing trauma.
Alongside therapy, I offer clinical supervision for trainee and qualified psychotherapists, counsellors and coaches. In addition, I provide coaching for people navigating life transitions, neurodivergence, or questions of identity and purpose.
Fees
My standard psychotherapy fee is £105 for each 50-minute session.
I have a sliding scale for trainee therapists who cannot afford my full fee.
I also have concessionary places at reduced rates; I invite you to discuss this at our initial meeting. While these places are usually taken, I operate a waitlist. If you prefer not to wait or we decide we’re not the best fit, I have a network of excellent colleagues to whom I should be happy to refer you.
For clinical supervision and coaching fees, please see my Supervision and Coaching pages respectively.
First Steps
If you would like a preliminary chat (20 minutes free of charge) to help you decide whether to book an initial session, just let me know. If you prefer to make an initial booking straight away, that’s fine too. All initial meetings are online, regardless of whether we proceed to further sessions online, in-person or outdoors.
The initial psychotherapy session, like subsequent ones, costs £105 and lasts for 50 minutes.
Just click the button below and leave your contact details. I’ll aim to respond to you within 24 hours on weekdays, so if you don’t hear from me, check your Spam folder!
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
Psychotherapy appointments are usually held weekly or fortnightly at the same time on a recurring basis. Supervision is by arrangement, but usually fortnightly or monthly. Coaching may be scheduled more flexibly. I operate a 48-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. There is no charge for cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. If you need to cancel at short notice and wish to reschedule, I shall make every effort to fit you in (without a cancellation fee) during the same week. However, if rescheduling is not possible, with less than 48 hours notice, half the full fee will be due.
