Affordable integrative therapy and psychotherapeutic counselling
I am a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) therapist in training in integrative psychotherapy at the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership (WPP). I offer low-cost therapy and counselling for adults on a long or short term basis through WPP's Affordable Therapy Service, which provides high quality psychotherapy delivered by therapists who are in training leading to UKCP registration. I practice from the WPP therapy rooms in Charles Street, in Cardiff city centre, which is within walking distance of several carparks and good public transport links.
I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which together we explore the issues you bring to therapy. I offer daytime appointments Mondays to Thursdays, although evening appointments may also be possible.
My standard low-cost fee is £35 for each 50-minute session, after an initial consultation in which we decide together whether you will proceed with therapy with me. The charge for this initial meeting is £20. We would usually then commit to work together for an agreed number of weeks, typically six in the first instance, as an extended assessment period. You can then decide whether and how you wish to continue, either for another fixed period of time or on a longer term or open-ended basis which we shall review periodically. I have a limited number of concessionary places available at further reduced rates for those in receipt of benefits or on very low incomes; we can discuss this at the initial meeting. At present, these places are taken and a wait list is in operation.
People see a psychotherapist for many reasons. Some seek help with chronic or episodic conditions such as depression and anxiety, others with stress related to their work, health or personal lives. You may suspect that your difficulties relate to childhood or more recent trauma, including sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect. Or you may have a pretty good idea of what has led you to want to have therapy now, such as adjusting to circumstances such as bereavement or other loss such as redundancy or a relationship ending. Yet equally you might simply feel unfulfilled, 'stuck', or that there is something missing from your life that you can't quite put your finger on.
Please get in touch with me by phone or email via the contact form on this website if you wish to make an appointment or if have any preliminary questions you'd like to ask. I shall aim to respond to you within 24 hours on weekdays.
